Civilian casualties mount as Israeli air defenses intercept majority of incoming projectiles.

Iran Expands Missile Strikes on Israel Amid Escalating Regional Conflict

Iran has intensified its ballistic missile attacks on Israel following a sharp escalation in hostilities involving the United States and Israel, deepening fears of a broader regional confrontation.

According to Israeli sources, at least 12 people have been killed and more than 150 injured in recent missile barrages. Israel’s multilayered air defense systems — including Iron Dome, David’s Sling, and Arrow — reportedly intercepted most incoming projectiles. However, several missiles penetrated defenses, resulting in direct strikes on residential areas.

The deadliest reported incident occurred in Beit Shemesh, west of Jerusalem, where a ballistic missile struck a neighborhood, causing widespread destruction. Emergency responders from Magen David Adom (MDA) confirmed multiple fatalities and dozens of injuries, including several in serious condition. Local media described extensive structural damage, including collapsed buildings and a destroyed shelter.

Earlier strikes targeting the Tel Aviv metropolitan area also resulted in civilian casualties, with two women reported killed and over 120 people injured. Additional impacts in Jerusalem and surrounding areas caused further injuries, including shrapnel wounds.

Israel’s Home Front Command has urged residents to remain on high alert as sirens continue to sound across central and northern parts of the country. The latest exchanges mark one of the most intense direct confrontations between the two nations in recent years, raising concerns over the risk of wider regional destabilization.
