Aircraft carrying Libya's Chief of General Staff, four other people disappears from radar

An aircraft carrying Libya's Chief of the General Staff, General Mohammed Ali Ahmed Al-Haddad, and four other passengers has disappeared from radar, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on Tuesday.

According to the Turkish Interior Minister, the aircraft, a Falcon 50 business jet of registration number 9H-DFJ, was heading to Libya's capital, Tripoli, from Turkish capital, Ankara, when it lost radar connection.

Interior Minister Yerlikaya said the aircraft took off from Ankara Esenboğa Airport at 8:10 pm Turkish time (17:10 GMT) and lost radio contact at 8:52 pm (17:52 GMT).

"An emergency landing notification was received from the aircraft in the vicinity of Haymana; however, communication could not be re-established thereafter," the minister said in a statement on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal. Haymana is located in the Turkish capital.

"The public will be kept informed of further developments," Interior Minister Yerlikaya said.
