The authorities say no Nigerian in Iran had been affected by the conflict so far and that officials are stationed at the Armenian border to receive and assist all evacuees.
The government of Nigeria has started evacuating its citizens from Iran as bombardments continue in Tehran and other cities.
According to the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Nigerian embassy officials are escorting citizens who wish to leave across the border into Armenia, where authorities are helping them continue their journey safely. The commission said no Nigerian has been reported injured in the conflict so far.
Officials did not specify how many Nigerians live in Iran or how many have already been evacuated.
Several African countries have been working to remove their citizens from the region as the war escalates. For example, Tanzania recently evacuated its first group of nationals from the United Arab Emirates, who later reunited with their families in Dar es Salaam.
Iranian authorities say the ongoing war involving Iran, Israel and the United States has already killed more than 1,255 people and injured around 10,000 others
