Senegal's president and IMF chief have welcomed progress in talks and pledged to move quickly toward a new programme to support the West African country's recovery.

Georgieva met Faye at IMF headquarters in Washington and discussed Senegal's economic policy priorities.
After the talks, she said the IMF and Senegal had a "strong partnership" and were working "expeditiously toward a new Fund-supported programme."
"Senegal has made encouraging progress in strengthening the economy and improving the outlook for investments, jobs and growth," Georgieva said in a separate statement.
Georgieva also welcomed the authorities' intention to pursue a debt treatment and said Senegal was determined to restore fiscal sustainability quickly.
