Regulators say the cuts reflect lower international oil prices during the review period.

Zambia cuts petrol product prices after decline in global oil figures

Zambia has reduced pump prices for all major petroleum products for July, providing relief to motorists and businesses following a decline in global oil prices and a modest appreciation of the kwacha against the US dollar.

The new prices, announced by the Energy Regulation Board (ERB), took effect on Wednesday after the regulator's monthly review of international oil market trends and exchange rate movements.

Under the revised pricing, petrol has been reduced by K1.00 per litre, falling from K27.15 (about $1.50) to K26.15.

Diesel recorded the largest reduction among the road fuels, dropping by K4.00 per litre from K32.11 to K28.11.

Paraffin prices have also been cut sharply, declining by K5.60 per litre from K33.91 to K28.32, while Jet A-1 fuel fell by K6.41, from K36.68 to K30.27 per litre.

According to the ERB, the price reductions were driven by lower international oil prices during the review period, coupled with a slight strengthening of the kwacha against the US dollar, which reduced the cost of fuel imports.

The latest adjustment is expected to ease pressure on transport operators, businesses and consumers, as fuel prices remain a major contributor to transportation costs and inflation in Zambia.

The reductions come as the country continues to contend with volatility in global energy markets, with monthly fuel price reviews closely watched for their impact on the broader economy.
