US vice president is shaping a political message centred on ending the Iran war, tackling living costs and reassessing ties with Israel.
United States Vice President JD Vance has moved to construct a new political alliance with disaffected voters ahead of the 2028 presidential race, Fox News Digital reported, citing sources familiar with the strategy.
According to the report, Vance has begun shaping an independent political platform in the wake of the Republican Party's severe losses in Tuesday's midterm elections, expressing differences over aspects of US foreign policy and Washington's relationship with Israel.
A source familiar with post-election discussions stated that a White House meeting took place Wednesday morning to align administration officials on unified messaging.
Following the meeting, Vance posted on the X platform, citing a pollster who outlined four core priorities required to win back lost voters: ending the war in Iran, tackling inflation and living costs, prioritising "America First", and altering "our relationship with Israel."
Positioning for the 2028 presidential cycle
"The reason we lost is the war," Vance wrote on X, referencing the conflict with Iran.
"The president himself said so last night."
A White House official told Fox News Digital that the four directives represent Vance's rallying cry to the "new right"—a faction anchored in Trump’s original "America First" movement that contends US foreign policy has become too closely aligned with Israel.
The official insisted Vance's positioning is not an outright break with Trump but targeted outreach to voters who back the president personally yet disagree with, or feel alienated by, his international engagements.
"Vance is our guy," the official said, framing the message as an opening move to consolidate the next generation of conservative leadership ahead of the 2028 campaign.
