US Drone Found, NATO Exit from Iraq Completed

Türkiye Monitors Black Sea Risks

Türkiye’s Defense Ministry confirmed Thursday that an unmanned US-origin submarine was neutralized after drifting ashore in Ordu’s Black Sea coast due to engine failure. Spokesman Rear Adm. Zeki Akturk said risks from unmanned naval and aerial vehicles linked to the Russia-Ukraine war are being “closely monitored,” urging fishermen and seafarers to report suspicious objects.

Akturk also announced the successful evacuation of Turkish troops from Iraq as NATO withdrew its mission, stressing Türkiye’s continued role in supporting peace and stability across a wide geography.

On the Middle East, he condemned Israel’s attacks in Lebanon, Syria, and the West Bank, warning they violate international law and fuel instability. He reiterated Türkiye’s call for restraint and a two-state solution to protect Palestinian rights.

Separately, Ankara signed a new deal with the UK expanding its Eurofighter Typhoon acquisition, covering pilot training, maintenance, and technical support.

Akturk also noted that Qatari authorities are investigating the March 22 helicopter crash that killed seven, including Turkish and Qatari personnel. Additional safety measures have been implemented at the Qatar-Türkiye Combined Joint Force Command.

Finally, he confirmed progress on establishing a NATO Corps Headquarters in Türkiye under the Southeastern Regional Plan, with efforts underway to transform it into a multinational structure.
