Iran's supreme leader 'in good health, fully managing country,' foreign minister says

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday that Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is “in good health and continues to fully manage the country” despite escalating hostilities with the United States and Israel.

Araghchi emphasized that Iran’s situation is stable and that all officials are performing their duties. He said Tehran is willing to work with regional countries to form a joint investigation committee to determine the nature of targets struck during recent attacks and whether they were linked to the US.

Iran has carried out retaliatory strikes targeting “US bases and interests in the region,” he said, while asserting that no civilian areas in neighboring countries have been hit. He also warned that attacks on Iranian energy facilities could provoke retaliatory strikes against American companies in the region.

Araghchi noted ongoing diplomatic communications with neighboring countries, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, aimed at reducing tensions. He added that Iran is open to proposals that could bring a “complete end to the war.”

Regarding maritime security, the foreign minister stated that the Strait of Hormuz remains open to all countries except the US and its allies.

Hostilities intensified after joint Israel–US attacks on Iran on February 28, which killed approximately 1,200 people, including former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran has responded with drone and missile strikes on Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
