EUROCONTROL report shows 1,395 daily flights

Istanbul Airport Tops Europe in Flight Traffic

Istanbul Airport has emerged as Europe’s busiest hub, averaging 1,395 daily flights between April 20–26, according to EUROCONTROL’s latest aviation report. The Turkish gateway narrowly surpassed Amsterdam’s Schiphol, which recorded 1,390 flights per day, while Paris Charles de Gaulle followed with 1,340. London Heathrow and Madrid-Barajas rounded out the top five.

The figures highlight Istanbul’s growing role as a global transit center, reflecting both Turkey’s strategic location and the airport’s expanding capacity. The ranking underscores how Istanbul has become a key connector between Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, reinforcing its position as a cornerstone of international aviation.
