Witkoff says negotiations centred on post-war security arrangements, easing regional tensions and addressing humanitarian needs, as Washington pursues parallel diplomatic talks with European allies in Brussels.

US to mediate Russia-Ukraine peace talks in Abu Dhabi this November

The United States has confirmed that it will mediate working-level negotiations between Ukraine and Russia in Abu Dhabi on November 10–11, as the Trump administration intensifies diplomatic efforts to end the conflict, US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff announced.

"Discussions will focus on post-war security arrangements, de-escalation, humanitarian efforts and next steps toward peace," Witkoff said on the X platform, describing the initiative as an advancement of President Donald Trump's mission to halt hostilities.

Security architecture and Intensified attacks

Additionally, Witkoff stated that American negotiators will meet this week in Brussels with representatives from France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and NATO.

Those consultations will address security guarantees for Ukraine, Europe's future security architecture, and economic opportunities to support the country's post-war reconstruction.

"We look forward to building on the progress made in Kiev, Oslo and St. Petersburg toward a comprehensive, durable peace agreement that delivers lasting security for generations to come," Witkoff added.

The planned talks come amid intensified Russian and Ukrainian strikes on each other's territory, including attacks targeting energy facilities and critical infrastructure.

Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Russian oil refineries, describing the strikes as retaliation for Russian attacks on its energy infrastructure.

Kiev has also reported fresh power outages following Russian strikes, while Moscow has reported Ukrainian drone attacks on industrial facilities.
