Turkish president warns of escalating crisis while reaffirming commitment to mediation

Erdogan, Oman’s Sultan Discuss Regional Tensions and Diplomatic Efforts

Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq have held talks on bilateral relations and growing regional tensions amid escalating conflict in the Middle East.

During the phone call, Erdogan warned that recent developments—including attacks on Iran and subsequent retaliation affecting neighboring countries—are pushing the region toward an unprecedented security crisis. He also described any attacks targeting Oman as unacceptable.

Despite the rising tensions, Erdogan emphasized that Türkiye remains committed to diplomatic engagement and mediation efforts, stating that Ankara will continue to pursue dialogue to prevent further escalation.

The Turkish leader also condemned restrictions on Muslim access to Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem, calling the situation unacceptable, and highlighted the urgent humanitarian needs in Gaza.

Reaffirming Türkiye’s position, Erdogan stressed the importance of continuing peace initiatives, including efforts led by the newly established Peace Board, with the aim of achieving a two-state solution.

The conversation concluded with Erdogan extending his wishes to the Omani leadership ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Fitr holiday.
