Ankara calls move an unacceptable provocation

Türkiye Condemns Israeli Minister’s Al-Aqsa Storming

Türkiye has strongly condemned far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem, describing it as an “unacceptable provocation” against one of Islam’s holiest sites.

In a statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said the incursion violated the historical and legal identity of Al-Aqsa, which it stressed belongs exclusively to Muslims. The ministry urged the international community to ensure freedom of worship and lift restrictions at holy sites in occupied East Jerusalem.

Israeli authorities have kept both Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre closed for 38 consecutive days, citing a state of emergency declared since the US-Israeli offensive on Iran began on February 28.
