New agreement focuses on fighting disinformation and strengthening strategic communication

Türkiye and Azerbaijan Deepen Media Cooperation

Türkiye and Azerbaijan have signed a new cooperation agreement during the STRATCOM 2026 in Istanbul, aiming to strengthen collaboration in media and communication. The memorandum was signed by Burhanettin Duran and Ahmad Ismayilov, outlining plans to expand joint efforts in digital platforms, audiovisual media, crisis communication, and strategic messaging. A key part of the agreement is the creation of a joint working commission and permanent committees under a shared media platform, designed to improve coordination between the two countries’ media sectors, ensure accurate information for the public, and combat disinformation more effectively. In simple terms, this partnership aims to bring Türkiye and Azerbaijan closer in how they manage media, especially in the digital age where information spreads quickly.
