Incidents near Ramallah add to growing wave of violence since 2023
In the central West Bank, local sources report that Israeli settlers blocked a main road and attacked Palestinian vehicles by throwing stones, causing damage but no reported injuries.
The incident took place near the town of Deir Dibwan, where vehicles were stopped and several car windows were smashed. A similar attack occurred at the northern entrance of Al-Bireh, with stones thrown at passing cars from a nearby military watchtower.
These incidents come amid a broader rise in violence across the West Bank since the outbreak of the Gaza war in 2023. According to Palestinian officials, multiple attacks have occurred in recent months involving both armed forces and settlers.
Data from Palestinian authorities indicates that:
- At least 16 Palestinians have been killed in such incidents since early 2026
- Over 1,800 attacks were recorded in March alone, including hundreds attributed to settlers
- Since late 2023, more than 1,150 Palestinians have died and thousands have been injured
While no injuries were reported in these latest incidents, the damage to vehicles and repeated nature of such attacks highlight ongoing tensions and insecurity for civilians in the area.
