Emergency teams respond after collision disrupts busy rail corridor
Several passengers were injured when a train derailed near Asham on the Abuja–Kaduna railway, a key route connecting Abuja and Kaduna. The derailment occurred around 10:30 a.m. and involved a rear locomotive and the adjacent passenger coach, likely due to a coupling issue.
Kayode Opeifa confirmed that emergency protocols were immediately activated, and the Safety Investigation Bureau is on-site investigating the incident. Officials have not yet clarified what object caused the collision.
