Train Derailment on Abuja–Kaduna Line Injures Passengers

Several passengers were injured when a train derailed near Asham on the Abuja–Kaduna railway, a key route connecting Abuja and Kaduna. The derailment occurred around 10:30 a.m. and involved a rear locomotive and the adjacent passenger coach, likely due to a coupling issue.

Kayode Opeifa confirmed that emergency protocols were immediately activated, and the Safety Investigation Bureau is on-site investigating the incident. Officials have not yet clarified what object caused the collision.

Injured passengers were evacuated to Idu Railway Station for medical treatment, and authorities confirmed that no fatalities were reported. Social media posts showed damaged coaches and passengers gathered safely near the tracks as rescue teams coordinated evacuation efforts.
