Authorities warn of further flooding as rescue teams continue operations across affected regions.

Kenya Flood Death Toll Climbs to 62 Amid Ongoing Heavy Rains

Kenya’s flood death toll has risen to 62 as heavy rains continue to affect several parts of the country during the early phase of the long rains season, officials said Friday.

According to the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, the victims include 46 men, eight women and eight children, while emergency teams remain on the ground conducting rescue operations and assessing the damage caused by the flooding.

The capital Nairobi has recorded the highest number of fatalities, after days of intense rainfall flooded roads, homes and businesses in several neighborhoods.

Other regions have also reported deaths linked to the floods. Officials said the Eastern region recorded 17 fatalities, while the Rift Valley region reported seven. The Nyanza and coastal regions each recorded two deaths, while the Central region reported one fatality.

Authorities say government agencies and emergency responders are continuing rescue, evacuation and relief operations to assist displaced families.

Residents in flood-prone areas, particularly near riverbanks and low-lying neighborhoods, have been urged to remain vigilant and follow safety advisories as heavy rainfall and flash flooding are expected to continue.
