Erdogan Warns Israel Is Driving Middle East Toward Wider Conflict

Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has warned that Israel’s expanding military operations are pushing the Middle East toward a broader and more dangerous crisis.

Speaking at an iftar event in Ankara, Erdogan said Israeli actions across multiple fronts—including Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen, and most recently Iran—go beyond security concerns and risk deepening regional instability. He accused Israeli leadership of pursuing an aggressive approach that could have far-reaching consequences.

Erdogan also condemned restrictions on access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, stating that its closure to Muslim worshippers for more than two weeks constitutes a violation of religious freedoms and a serious provocation in an already volatile environment.

Highlighting the humanitarian impact, he pointed to rising civilian casualties and mass displacement, emphasizing the suffering of innocent populations caught in ongoing conflicts.

Türkiye has increasingly positioned itself as a leading regional voice against Israel’s military campaign, warning that continued escalation could trigger a wider regional confrontation.
