Brahim Diaz opened the score sheet for the Atlas Lions in the 55th minute. Ayoub El Kaabi extended Morocco's lead in the 74th minute to take the hosts to the summit of Group A.
The other teams in the group are Zambia and Mali, who will face off against each other on Monday.
The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 edition, which runs from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026, features 24 teams.
Morocco to face Mali test
In the tournament's Group A fixtures, Comoros will play against Zambia on December 26, the same day that Morocco will face off against Mali.
The group stage's final matches (Zambia versus Morocco, and Comoros versus Mali) will be played on December 29.
The two top sides in each group will progress to the round of 16, along with the four best third-placed teams.
