President Alassane Ouattara accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Robert Beugre Mambe and his cabinet.

Côte d'Ivoire's cabinet resigns, paves way for new government

Côte d'Ivoire’s President Alassane Ouattara accepted the resignations Wednesday of Prime Minister Robert Beugre Mambe and his government, according to a statement from the president’s office.

The resignations pave the way for a new government following legislative elections that were held December 27.

The statement said that pending the appointment of a new prime minister and members of the government, the outgoing prime minister and members of the government will be responsible for handling current affairs.

The ruling party of Ouattara, Rally of Houphouetists for Democracy and Peace, secured a majority in the National Assembly, winning 197 of the 255 seats.

The elections came after presidential polls held October 25.

Several of the outgoing ministers were elected to the National Assembly, which is set to be inaugurated in the coming days.
