Beijing calls for urgent action as Middle East tensions threaten peace efforts

China Warns Palestinian Issue Must Stay Central

China has urged the world not to ignore the Palestinian issue, stressing that it remains at the heart of the Middle East conflict.

Speaking at the United Nations Security Council, China’s envoy Fu Cong said the situation in the region has worsened sharply in recent months, affecting not just regional stability but also the global economy and energy security.

In simple terms, China is warning that ongoing conflicts are making things worse for everyone—and that peace efforts must not be sidelined.

China called on all parties, especially Israel, to respect ceasefire agreements and allow humanitarian aid into Gaza. It also emphasized the need to follow international humanitarian law and remove barriers blocking food, medicine, and other essential supplies.

At the same time, China highlighted the worsening conditions in Palestinian territories, warning that the possibility of a two-state solution—seen as the main path to long-term peace—is at risk of disappearing.

Beijing outlined three key priorities:

  • Stop the suffering of civilians immediately

  • End settlement expansion

  • Support a two-state solution

Overall, China is pushing for urgent global action to stabilize the situation, reduce violence, and restart a serious political process before the crisis deepens further.
