Aid agencies warn malnutrition and displacement are rising as political tensions flare.
South Sudan is facing a worsening humanitarian crisis as renewed clashes between forces aligned with President Salva Kiir and rival leader Riek Machar have displaced hundreds of thousands of civilians.
The United Nations estimates that about 280,000 people have fled their homes in Jonglei State since December, while more than 800,000 across multiple regions face the risk of severe hunger.
Hospitals and humanitarian organisations report severe shortages of medicines and supplies as the number of displaced families continues to grow.
Aid groups warn that the violence is particularly devastating for children, many of whom have lost access to schooling and stable living conditions.
Despite a fragile power-sharing agreement signed in 2018, tensions between the country’s rival leaders have continued to threaten South Sudan’s fragile peace.
