TİKA delivers food and essentials as civilians hope to return home

Türkiye Sends Aid to Displaced Families in Lebanon

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) continues to provide humanitarian aid to people displaced by attacks in Lebanon.

Aid packages including food, blankets, and hygiene supplies were delivered to shelters in Beirut, where many families have taken refuge. According to TİKA coordinator Salih Burak Yurdakul, assistance has been ongoing since the early days of the conflict, especially in heavily affected areas like Sidon and the Bekaa Valley.

Displaced civilians shared emotional stories. One resident, Fatma Suveyd, said her family lost both of their homes and all their livestock. Now living in a temporary shelter, she described feeling “lost” and longing to return home despite the hardship.

Another displaced person, Ali al-Bardan, explained that his family took nearly two days to reach Beirut and is now living in a classroom with limited resources. He highlighted urgent needs such as summer clothing and financial support.

Despite the difficulties, many displaced people remain hopeful that peace talks will succeed. They expressed a strong desire to return to their villages, even if it means starting over with very little.

TİKA reaffirmed its commitment to continue supporting those in need and improving living conditions until stability returns to the region.
