The agreement covers educational institutions, diploma recognition, language teaching and exchanges of information and expertise.
Türkiye and Georgia have signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen ties in education, Türkiye’s education minister Yusuf Tekin said on Friday.Tekin, who was in the Georgian capital Tbilisi for official talks, met his Georgian counterpart Givi Mikanadze at the education ministry.The two ministers discussed bilateral cooperation in education and other areas before signing the agreement following their roughly hour-long meeting.“The stronger we and our neighbour are, and the better our cooperation with our neighbour is, the stronger peace, human rights and democracy will be in our region,” Tekin said after the ceremony.Mikanadze said Tekin’s visit would help advance ties between the two countries, describing their relationship as one of “extremely positive cooperation, strategic partnership and friendship”.Under the agreement, Türkiye and Georgia will seek to strengthen cooperation in education and open educational institutions on the basis of reciprocity.The two sides will also work towards recognising diplomas and other educational documents, promote the teaching of Turkish and Georgian, and increase exchanges of information and expertise in education.
