Government blames paramilitary RSF after attack kills schoolgirls and civilians.

Sudan Condemns Deadly Drone Strike on Village

The government of Sudan has strongly condemned a deadly drone strike that killed at least 17 civilians in the village of Shukeiri in White Nile State.

Prime Minister Kamil Idris and members of the government said the attack was carried out by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and described it as a heinous crime against innocent civilians.

According to officials, the drone strike hit a secondary school and a health centre on Wednesday. Most of the victims were schoolgirls, along with teachers and a health worker. Around 10 other people were injured.

The Sudanese Doctors Network said the attack appeared to deliberately target civilian facilities and warned that similar strikes have recently hit other locations, including student housing, a power station, and residential areas.

Sudan’s government has called on the international community to hold the RSF accountable and to designate the group as a terrorist organisation.

The country has been locked in a brutal conflict since April 2023, when fighting erupted between the Sudanese military and the RSF. The war has since killed tens of thousands of people and forced millions to flee their homes.
