Moscow rejects intelligence claims as geopolitical tensions deepen
Sergey Lavrov has reiterated Russia’s strong strategic ties with Iran, confirming the supply of certain military equipment while firmly denying allegations of intelligence-sharing.
Speaking to France Télévisions, Lavrov described relations between Moscow and Tehran as “very close,” grounded in a formal military-technical cooperation framework. He dismissed claims of intelligence support as unfounded, noting that sensitive information such as U.S. military base locations is already publicly available.
Lavrov also criticized U.S. officials for what he called “bravado” regarding potential strikes on Iranian leadership, labeling such rhetoric as both cynical and destabilizing. He argued that Iran’s regional actions should be seen as reactions to U.S. and Israeli policies, which he claims breach international law.
Rejecting comparisons to the war in Ukraine, Lavrov emphasized that Russia’s cooperation with Iran remains legal and transparent. His remarks come amid mounting accusations from European officials, further intensifying tensions between Western powers and the growing Moscow-Tehran partnership.
