The UC Central Command tells Al Jazeera that Iran is "lying" about capturing American troops.

Iran Claims U.S. Soldiers Captured, Washington Denies

Ali Larijani, a top security official in Iran, claimed that several soldiers from the United States had been captured during the ongoing conflict. Writing on the social media platform X, Larijani alleged that the U.S. government was trying to hide the situation by saying the soldiers were killed in action.

The U.S. military quickly rejected the accusation. A spokesperson for United States Central Command (CENTCOM) told Al Jazeera that Iran’s claims were false and described them as misinformation.

The dispute comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following joint air strikes launched on February 28 by the United States and Israel against Iran. The attacks reportedly killed more than 1,000 people, including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, along with schoolgirls and senior military officials.

Since then, the conflict has triggered instability across the region, with Iran carrying out retaliatory missile and drone attacks on sites linked to the United States.
