Regional governments warn of escalation as attacks shift beyond Israel.
Iran’s retaliation following the escalation of hostilities in the Middle East has largely focused on Gulf states rather than Israel, according to new analysis by the Critical Threats Project.
Data from the group suggests that Tehran launched more than 2,100 drones and missiles toward Gulf countries, while around 255 were directed at Israel.
The United Arab Emirates was among the hardest hit, highlighting the widening scope of the conflict.
Gulf countries have warned that continued attacks could push the region toward collective self-defence under the framework of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Experts caution that the scale of strikes across the region increases the risk that the war could evolve into a broader regional confrontation.
