European support comes as US-Israeli attacks on Iran escalate

France and UK Open Bases for US Operations Amid Iran Conflict

According to sources from the French General Staff, France has allowed the United States to use some of its bases in the Middle East to “contribute to the protection of its partners in the Gulf” amid rising tensions with Iran.

Sources indicate that US aircraft were temporarily stationed at French bases, and Britain has also allowed use of its regional bases. Lithuania is reportedly considering opening its territory for US operations against Iran.

Escalation after US-Israeli attacks

On February 28, Israel and the United States launched military strikes on Iran while negotiations between Tehran and Washington were ongoing. The strikes reportedly targeted Iranian leaders including Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other senior officials.

Iran retaliated with attacks on US bases and regional targets in Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Israel.

According to the Iranian Health Ministry spokesman Hossein Kermanpur, 926 people lost their lives during the US-Israeli strikes.
