Four-week training on African history and heritage concludes in Istanbul

The African World, Civilization, Languages, and Cultures Certificate training has concluded after a four-week programme in Istanbul, Türkiye.

The programme provided a rich dive into Africa's history and heritage, as well as its vibrant developments in recent years.

Organised through a strategic partnership between the Istanbul University African Studies Research and Application Center, Istanbul Ticaret University, the African Researchers Association (AFAM), and the Africa Coordination and Education Centre (AKEM), the programme brought together scholars, students, and experts to deepen an understanding of the African continent.

Over the course of a month, participants attended lectures delivered by both Turkish and African academics, exploring Africa's historical evolution, cultural and social structures, and linguistic diversity.

Academic and cultural ties

The programme concluded with a closing ceremony held at Istanbul University, where participants who successfully completed the modules received their certificates.

Faculty members and programme coordinators joined the ceremony, alongside Rector of Istanbul University Prof. Dr. Osman Bülent Zülfikar, who presented completion certificates to the graduates.

Designed to strengthen academic and cultural ties between Türkiye and Africa, the certificate programme also aimed to foster a more nuanced understanding of Africa's heritage.

As the final certificates were handed out, the initiative stood as a testament to the growing collaboration between institutions in building cross-cultural connections.
