Everton stun Man United with dramatic late draw

Everton snatched a dramatic 2-2 draw against Manchester United at Hill Dickinson Stadium after Ainsley Maitland-Niles scored a stunning equaliser deep into stoppage time on his debut for the club.

United appeared to be on course for their first away win after twice taking the lead, but Maitland-Niles struck in the 95th minute to rescue a point for David Moyes' side.

Manchester United took control early in the second half when Bryan Mbeumo produced a brilliant individual goal just 61 seconds after the restart.

Everton responded through Tyrique George, who levelled with a powerful strike that beat United goalkeeper Senne Lammens at his near post.

United then looked to have secured all three points when Benjamin Sesko headed them back in front in the 88th minute.

But Everton refused to give up.

Maitland-Niles, making his Everton debut, produced the final twist with an outstanding stoppage-time finish to send the home crowd into celebration.

Everton's attacking options have been limited after a difficult transfer window, leaving Thierno Barry as the club's only recognised striker. The 23-year-old had the highest expected goals (xG) figure of any player in the match but was unable to register a shot on target.

Despite their lack of depth, Everton showed they still have players capable of producing decisive moments. George and Maitland-Niles both joined the club this summer, while Jack Grealish also made an impact after coming on in the second half.
