During his time at Manchester City, Grealish won three Premier League titles, the Champions League and the FA Cup.
Everton FC midfielder Jack Grealish has confirmed his season is over after undergoing surgery on a stress fracture in his foot, a setback that significantly impacts his chances of earning a place in England’s squad for the upcoming World Cup.
The 30-year-old, currently on loan from Manchester City, picked up the injury during Everton’s 1-0 Premier League victory over Aston Villa last month and has not featured since.
Grealish had been enjoying a strong campaign, making 22 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice and registering six assists, performances that had sparked talk of a return to the national team.
Announcing the news on social media, Grealish expressed disappointment at how the season ended but remained optimistic about his recovery.
Optimism
“Didn’t want the season to end like this but that’s football, gutted,” he wrote. “Surgery done and now all focus on getting back fit. I know for sure I will come back fitter, stronger and better than before.”
Grealish last played for England in October 2024 under caretaker manager Lee Carsley. With the World Cup scheduled to run from June 11 to July 19 across Canada, Mexico and the United States, the midfielder now faces a race against time to prove his fitness ahead of squad selection.
During his time at Manchester City, Grealish won three Premier League titles, the Champions League and the FA Cup, achievements that underline the level of experience he hopes to bring back to both club and country once fully recovered.
