Stocks edge up as currency and commodity prices remain elevated

BIST 100 Opens Flat

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index, the BIST 100, opened Monday at 12,709.29 points, edging up just 0.09% (11 points) after last week’s slight decline. Daily transaction volume at the prior close stood at 112 billion liras ($2.52 billion).

By mid-morning, exchange rates were ₺44.46 per US dollar₺51.21 per euro, and ₺58.98 per British pound. Gold traded at $4,531.60 per ounce, while Brent crude futures hovered at $115.8 per barrel, reflecting continued pressure from global energy markets.

The modest uptick suggests cautious investor sentiment, with currency volatility and commodity prices remaining key drivers for the week ahead.
