The carnival kicked off in Bandung city, West Java, to mark 71st anniversary of Asian-African Conference
The ongoing 2026 Asia-Africa Festival in Indonesia has held a special session to highlight the Palestine issue, state media reported on Sunday.
The carnival kicked off in Bandung city, West Java, on Saturday to mark the 71st anniversary of the Asian-African Conference (AAC), Antara news agency reported.
The organising committee held a special forum featuring a Palestinian representative who delivered a speech before the students and ambassadors.
For younger generation
The event was attended by Indonesian Environment Minister Mohammad Jumhur Hidayat as well as delegates from 26 countries, including several ambassadors, state officials, and college students.
This year’s event features many new activities, such as talk shows, exhibitions, and special sessions addressing the issue of Palestine.
The commemoration served as a platform to promote the values of independence, peace, and solidarity that have become the spirit of the AAC since it was first held in 1955.
Iskandar Zulkarnain, secretary of the Bandung City government, emphasised that the values established at the 1955 conference are still highly relevant and should be shared with the younger generation and the larger international community.
