The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winners will receive a cash prize of $10 million, while the losing finalist will take home $4 million, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Patrice Motsepe recently stated.
This is a significant increase from 2023, when that year's champions, Côte d'Ivoire, bagged $7 million, and the first runner-up, Nigeria, secured a $4 million cash prize.
In the ongoing tournament in Morocco, the teams that exit in the semi-final stage will take home at least $2.5 million each, while the quarter-finalists will receive at least $1.3 million each.
The sides bundled out of the competition in the round of 16 will each take home $800,000.
Total cash prize
The best third-placed team in the group stages will receive $700,000, while the nations that exit the tournament in the group stage will each earn $500,000.
Apart from the winner's cash prize, which has been raised by 43%, the other participants will receive similar amounts of money to 2023 contestants who exited the tournament at the respective stages.
Twenty-four teams are taking part in this year's AFCON, with a total cash prize of $32 million set aside for the teams.
